i'm catching back to the 90's alt that i missed while listening to 90's alt on the radio in the 90's -- listening to more 80's alt too. expanding my horizons to be one of the cool kids, but the other day i did a mix tape for the jeep that was from my roots; zombie, the union underground, korn, powerman 5000, manson, nin, pantera, disturbed, sevendust . . . fast and loud like a muscle head . . . what can i say?
Just finished listening to Brahms Clarinet Quintet and Clarinet Trio; now I need to run to the store and get myself a nice cool Foster's to drink to stimulate me while typing and as I type I probably will listen to Del Tredici's songs based on James Joyce and Lewiss Carroll.
now that the weather has finally decided to get with the season, I've started bringing out the scary dark stuff. Lots of my staple metal music (Samael, Emperor, Darkthrone, Burzum, Dimmu Borgir, et al...) and also some creepy industrial goodness like In Slaughter Natives and C17H17NO3 (aka Morphine). And on the 'lighter' side I'm chilling to Raison d'Etre, MZ412, Sephiroth, Atrium Carceri and grooving (?) to Sopor Aeturnus, The Cruxshadows, Therion and you've probably stopped reading by now cause I listen to really obscure stupid stuff that nobody in a normal mental state would approve of. If not, then congratulations. I just bored you or intrigued you. Check some of that stuff out. It's pretty awesome scary halloween-ish type goodness.
I enjoy listening to Pandora radio on the net to get turned on to new music. Mogwai is one of my current favorites, even though I don't own anything by them. Also like our Portland boys the Shins and my shoegazer faves My Bloody Valentine. Wish they'd tour our neck of the woods. Then there's my blues side. Love the Jimmy Reed, Lazy Lester, Charlie Musselwhite thang. Explore all. It is all good.
For my birthday, Kate got me a CD collection of Pentangle. My old collection was all on vinyl & destroyed when we were off on our Honeymoon in '95 - off to the U.K., Eire, Scotland... We left all our things in the Camp (a house) on the river we'd been living in before the wedding. Then came the infamous 100 year flood of the Bogue Falaya River, giving at least 5 feet in the camp, drowning everything, suffocating our tunes with thick mud.
This is the same Camp that y'guys stayed in, Josh.
