The Shores of Infinity, Part One

I’m starting to get worried now. Hamal left me waiting here, in the Caniff Gift Shop, half an hour ago. Part of me is grateful that he left me here. It’s over ninety degrees outside, and the store is at least air conditioned. That’s the only good thing that I can say about the shop.

The store sits in between condemned houses and other rot from the city of Hamtramck. The trash is rotting in the alleys. The rats in the city seem to be getting fatter by the day. I can almost taste th…

The Shores of Infinity, Part Three

I wait until Hamal is close to sleep before I step out of the bed. His body slides down into the mattress, and then he’s asleep. His face has the deadly peacefulness of corpses awaiting burial. The ghost of a smile haunts his full lips.

I slide back into my dress and slink out of his bedroom.

An eerie silence has settled over the house. The babies are not crying, Jivan and Nudahr aren’t arguing, and I can not hear the television. There is only the soft scrunching of carpet…

The Shores of Infinity, Part Two

The relief is short lived. The apartment is alive with noises: two babies crying, a television’s volume is all the way up, and there is a woman shouting into a phone. She comes to the door to greet Hamal, and hug him. I know this is his sister before he gives us a formal introduction. The woman is a three or four inches shorter than Hamal, and she has waist length, shiny, black hair. Her skin is of a shade that makes her seems like she’s hiding a light underneath her skin. I like her instantl…

Thanks for all the great comments. I can't wait to delve into your blogs when i get some more time off to myself for reading. Any delay is the fault of my silly migraines, not my choice. Guess I need to max out on some coffee. Strangely, that often helps. What a weird & wacky world we grow up into when one's biology turns against us. Oh, well. Gotta take the bitter with the sweet of life.

Thanks a whole lot for the read and comments. Yer one of the people whose opinions really matter to me. Feel free to rip the pieces apart, by the way. Otherwise, I'll start thinking that I'm actually a good writer. LOL. Acclamare is the third and final part of that story, which, originally, was only supposed to be WDYCI? Somehow, over a few weeks, it became a three part piece. Scuber Uber Traipse is the second part.

Thanks again.
