Write No Cliches ... Pull No Punches ... And Keep Going All Night

the motion in the eye is zero point chaos

there are some clouds without silver linings
that rush in and swallow the hallucination of blue skies
washing the horizon into a flat world
where we look through a veil like TV static

twenty minutes or so and they go like they came
with the violence of an orgasm and twisted metal
throwing the world into a panic of umbrellas and
doorway queues to get to cars
that will bring us all home safe (in theory)

but the sirens scream like the sound of evolution
as if someone has decided this life might be okay
from some other perspective
some newborn second chance, if only we could remember

there are mistakes that we make like a skipping record
and be damned if you think that lessons come easier with time
the heart always breaks in the exact same place
how many suits must we wear before we stop spilling the wine?

it's not the law of the land that makes it so hard
it's the way that simplicity becomes sexier each go round
one more chance and i'll build a car that flies . . .
