i could hide what's in my mind
in clever lines and disguise it in a rhyme scheme
or choose to dream new definitions of rhythm
that defy your critical geometry

i could place my methods above my madness
talk about how sad this is and then draw you a picture
to reflect it two dimensionally

i could mention just in passing how i've outlasted
catastrophe after catastrophe and watch you atrophy
under the weight of apathy

i could anoint pages with passion
and rage unfashionably on stage about how you just don't get it
i could define the head of the nail and then hit it
with unfathomable force

i could knock the wheels off course to bring a horse to water
and i could make him drink before i could make you think
before you knelt down to pray to an absent father

i could hide what's in my mind
revise the lies and despise how the truth seems
or choose to scream through inhibitions and miss
that my eyes reflect in perfect translation
