shut off from the world of
half an hour ago
when i watched the multivalent
flip through switches
and just stood there
running down used-up phrases
annoyed at my lack of anxiety
an ice statue of former self
my unhindered mask
i feel somewhat petty
in my exclusive conversation
sonic shut off
teddy bear eyes
alive with lies
but all i hear is the friction in the clouds
watching the open-close twinge of speech
this is the last hopeless cigarette break communion

5:30 PM solitude and silence
i breeze through the checkpoint
and out the door for a quick breath
i need a moment with no exchanges
no hello no goodbye
no small talk or excuses
there is no song for the leaves
they just dance without need
under the dark clouds
fuck silver linings
we don't need their false hope
just threaten to rain down hard
like an uncontrollable outburst
and i'll believe you
until the colour returns
with it's gradient facade and smiling face
